Red Empire Virtual Gallery
Autumn Exhibition: 2 September – 1 December 2013
Rachel Mimiec is a Glasgow-based artist whose work encompasses self-directed initiatives and collaborative community projects. She recently completed a two-year tenure as Associate Artist at GoMA, which was marked by the solo exhibition ‘PLOUGH’.
Underlying themes in her work include landscape, nature and survival. Recent works have utilised oil paint and appropriated images from National Geographic magazines to create collages and installations which reference our relationship with the natural world.
The Colour Scans Series is made up of digitally generated prints, created by arranging painted magazine pages on a flat bed scanner to generate layered images of colour and texture. Fine art prints from the series are available to buy at various sizes, with prices starting at £80 unframed. All prints have a limited issue run of 20.
