Karen L Vaughan
Red Empire Virtual Gallery
Spring Exhibition: 3 March – 1 June 2014
Karen L Vaughan is a Glasgow-based artist whose practice recognises and embraces the use of traditional crafts, the written word and song. These are often combined with contemporary methods of presentation such as photography, screen-printing and hand-stitched work, and tend to straddle the boundary between craft and fine art.
Karen was recently selected for a ‘Creative Futures Mountain Residency’ at The Banff Centre in Alberta, Canada, and spent six weeks capturing the landscape of the Rocky Mountains with her Diana F+ and Kodak Brownie plastic cameras. All the images from the series ‘From a Fractured Landscape’ (a work in progress) are double exposed in the camera, leaving what and where images overlap completely to chance.
Fine art prints from the series are available to buy at various sizes. All prints have a limited edition run of 20.
